Methods & limits
Brightness draws the outline; source color keeps the mood
Color mode still chooses each character by brightness, then paints it with the sampled pixel’s RGB color. From afar it reads as an image; up close the character texture appears.
Plain TXT cannot carry per-character color, so this mode exports PNG only. Dark backgrounds suit saturated photos; light backgrounds often suit sketches and muted images.
Character shape comes from luminance; character color comes from sampled RGB. Every calculation stays in Canvas.

Why can’t color ASCII be copied as plain text?
Plain text stores characters, not a separate color for each one. PNG preserves the complete color result.
Does the export have a watermark?
No. The exported image contains only the background and character artwork.
Can I use a phone photo directly?
Yes. The browser can read supported JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF files. Compress files over 20 MB first.
