Methods & limits

Draw the letterform first, then translate its strokes into characters

Traditional ASCII fonts often support only Latin letters. This tool first draws your text with a device font on a local canvas, then maps brightness to characters, so CJK text works too.

Short lines produce clearer shapes. For longer text the font shrinks automatically; increasing the column count can recover more stroke detail.

Text rasterization → proportional downsampling → luminance levels → monospace character layout.

FAQ

ASCII text banner · FAQ

Does it support non-Latin text?

Yes, if your device has a font that can display it. Letterforms may vary slightly by operating system.

Where can I use it?

Use it for README titles, terminal greetings, code comments, forum signatures, or download a PNG for social posts.

Why is longer text harder to read?

Canvas width is fixed, so each glyph receives fewer samples. Aim for 4–14 Latin characters or a similarly short phrase.
